The EWS category candidates with family income of Rs.5 lakh per annum will fall into the EWS category in Delhi. The threshold limit has been increased from 2.5 lakh to 5 lakh by LG VK Saxena. This will pave the way reafor these disadvantageous students to get admission in private schools, this will make education more accessible to all sections of society official said.

Delhi High court had asked the Delhi government to increase the threshold in its order dated December 5,2023 which was upped to 2.5 lakh by delhi government.
Delhi High court felt that its order was disobeyed and sent this proposal to LG for final approval. This also happened that in fifth pay commission salaries were revised of class four employee they were no longer in the EWS Category as they crossed the limit of 2.5 Lakh.
Now Candidates with 5 Lakh Family income are in EWS Category
The Private schools in Delhi have to admit the students from EWS category as the 25 per cent seats are reserved for them in the schools. The increasing of the limit to 5 lakh would involve more students and they get the chance to study in good schools. The school would provide free education to these children including free books, uniforms and writing material. But limit has to be increased to class 12
