36 percent drop in Emission Intensity of GDP between 2025 to 2020
India has achieved the 36 percent reduction in the emission intensity of its GDP according to 4 Bennial Update Report(BUR 4) which was submitted to United Nations Framework Conventions on climate Change (UNFCCC) on December 30 2024.

What this reduction means
This means India has produced lesser goods and services. Lesser Green house gas production indicates that lesser gas produced during production. This is 7.93 reduction in GHG
Indian Forest and tree cover sequestered(separate) 522 million tonnes of CO2 in 2020 offsetting 22 percent of total emission
Till October 2024 non fossil fuel sources contributed 46.52 percent to India’s installed electricity capacity between 2005 to 2021. A carbon sink of 2.29 billion tones of CO2 was created

Rural consumption surges
This rural consumption has narrowed the difference between urban rural gap. India’s rural household consumption is Rs.4122 campared to urban consumption of Rs.6996. It marks the 9 percent increase in rural expenditure and 8 percent in urban areas.
In terms of free social welfare benefit rural MPCE rises to Rs.4247 while Urban MPCE rises to Rs. 7078
